This Bald Eagle photo was taken along a reservoir in the New Jersey
highlands. If you look closely you can make out two bands on the
feet one is green and the other is grey.
This bird is often recognized by its large size, broad flat wings
and large head. Think of this bird as a flying door and it may help
with remembering the rectangular outline and straight edge of the
wings. The white head and tail is not always obvious when viewing
from a distance especially with younger birds.
The Bald Eagle has been known to spot a fish from as hight up as
one mile in the sky.
